...to the home for the British independent film production company Coffee Films.
Established as a short film collective playing with camcorders in 1996, Coffee Films incorporated in 2003 and within a year was recognised as one of Europe's best young production companies. Progressing to documentaries on music and wildlife we gained critical acclaim for the film Last of the Scottish Wildcats as only the second company to film Britain's rarest mammal. Well into our second decade we're currently developing and producing a slate of exciting feature length projects including The Death and Resurrection Show on the influential post-punk/industrial band Killing Joke, Lucid a psychological drama/thriller and numerous wildlife projects alongside international broadcasters. We're looking forward to continuing to create outstanding independent films for another ten years, still motivated by the words of Francis Ford Coppola that set us on our way; "One day some little fat girl in Ohio is gonna be the new Mozart, and make a beautiful film with her little father's camera corder and for once the so called professionalism about movies will be destroyed, forever, and it will really become an artform." We've tried to keep it in mind. Enjoy your stay. |
1.8.2009 Website faceliftAfter a busy year with all things Scottish wildcat we're finally getting some new projects moving (see below) and we've decided our beloved website is a little overdue for a visual update, keep an eye out on the new design unfolding in the coming months...
Last of the Scottish Wildcats continues to sell well on DVD and is popping up regularly for screenings across the UK and here and there around the US, we should be getting a download and VOD edition sorted out pretty soon, check out the trailer, press and other stuff on the project website, or drop by the Scottish Wildcat Association to learn more about Britain's very own wild feline! We're discussing a whole bunch of wildlife program ideas with a whole variety of people and hope to be back shooting cats in all the right ways in 2010.
The Death and Resurrection Show directed by photographer Shaun Pettigrew is a co-production with New Zealand's ILC Productions documenting the 30 year history of one of the world's most interesting and influential bands, Killing Joke. ILC have been shooting with them pretty much the whole way through those 30 years and what's coming together is one of the most unique and engrossing music documentaries ever put together. Get just the faintest smattering of a taster from the teaser trailer below and look out for more details on the project website that not only includes the Killing Joke crew (in fact Jaz Coleman is one of our co-producers) but frank and fascinating interviews with people like Dave Grohl, Jimmy Page, Sir Laurence Gardner, Peter Hook, Alex Patterson, Mike Coles and the Head of the Czech Secret Police; trust us, you've never seen anything like it!
Lucid is a gripping psychological thriller feature set in the Scottish Highlands. Written by our old friend James Hancock and directed by French music video director Nicolas Fogliarini, we're also joined by Xavier Gens as executive director; more details, posters and a teaser trailer coming soon... Dealer, our crossover no budget analogue/digital mini-feature project has finally completed offlining and is now onto final mixing. Trailer coming soon for this experiment in filmmaking which has been in production and editing on and off for almost six years! The Journey is a new short film in production from our friends at Crestfallen (who made Plaster, Paper...). Currently being shot out on the Yorkshire moors it should be wrapped and turning up at film festivals early next year. |
